Merchant House

Now taking bookings from July 2010.

Merchant House is a detached Grade II listed town house situated in the old High Street in the heart of the popular coastal town of Wells-next-the-Sea.

Generous holiday accommodation is available across three floors. The house is comfortably furnished throughout, with character features including exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces.  A spacious two-bedroom barn conversion is situated to the rear of the courtyard. The house and barn can be rented separately or together. The house sleeps 6 + 2 and the barn sleeps 4 + 1.

The house is within 5 minutes walk of the historic harbour. Shops and pubs are within 100 yards. One mile away are the sandy beach and pinewoods, reachable by car or by a pedestrian embankment (or miniature railway!).

The area is ideal for bird watching, walking, swimming, sailing, fishing, crabbing, and cycling. Within the vicinity are RSPB bird sanctuaries and nature reserves and there are boat trips to visit the basking seals at Blakeney point.

Located nearby are Holkham Hall and the picturesque Holkham beach, which has been used for many film shoots, including Shakespeare in Love, and more recently Kingdom with Stephen Fry.
